Molly Goddard SS20

A Friday evening in London, greeted by the ES fashion magazine. Always happy to accept as I leg it on to my 4th form of transport, the 189 outside Kilburn High Road underground.

Landing myself on the LFW section surrounded by wise journalist offering survival guides ahead of the industry’s chaotic showstopper that await, I was distracted by the flash photography from Goddard’s September catwalk reveal. If that is a taste of what’s to come, I will have sleepless nights ahead.

Simply mouthwatering.

Not a care in the world for compliance, conservativism or hush; these pieces cleverly ooze brashness, dare and independence.

Could these ghostly dresses echo the old London on the same streets we walk today?

Loose torsos of cotton followed by cute lace neck ties. Almost doll-like outfit replicas. Pair with illuminous wedges in summer, large orange framed sunglasses and a wide brimmed straw sunhat. The old promenade on Donostia San Sebastian awaits.

Pièce de résistance: The Skye dress.

The year was 1961. White picket fences, cook outs, soda pop, diners, high school yearbooks. The place: Prairie Creek, Joplin, Arkansas.
